In true allotment style, I rescued these slate tiles from a skip. I’ve always been a lover of creative thrift wherever possible, although I have to admit it was the first time I’d ever raided a skip and it was a bit scary hoping no-one caught me. But as they say, one persons rubbish is another’s treasure. They made a perfect edging for the herb border at the top end of the plot. I now find myself having a sneaky look into every skip I pass.
