I am truly indebted to 3 men on the allotment who helped me put this together. In fact they didn’t so much help, as completely take over and do it for me, which was fantastic. I just stood by and tried not to get in the way of the male testosterone, as they argued over the best way to do it. I had intended to put it up the following day with John’s help, knowing how much he loves a bit of DIY! But, after they offered to do it, I decided it would probably save our relationship if the shed experts took the job in hand. So, after a few initial problems (cheap shed, bad instructions) it went up fairly quickly. Naturally, I kept all of this from John for the rest of the day, convincing him that I was completely relying on him to help me put it together the next day. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him quite so relieved as when we got there and he realised that the ‘new shed on the site’ seen from afar, was actually ours!
Now that the roof felt is in place (done after this photo) I am in my element putting up shelves and hooks, and debating what colour to paint it (most important). They say that sheds are a bloke thing, but I love them. Maybe it has something to do with having a Wendy house as a kid, and to be honest, this one isn’t that much bigger! On a grown up level though, it will make a huge difference having somewhere to store a few things and somewhere to shelter from the relentless summer rain (with a spare bottle of homebrew), and it feels like a proper allotment now.
