Welcome!

I’m a designer and illustrator who is passionate about gardening and in particular growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment.

On the home page, you can read about my allotment. There are posts about what and how I grow, how I combat pests and diseases, and how I store and preserve my harvests, along with as many photos as possible.

The shop page shows some of the items that are for sale in my Etsy shop. You can click on the link on that page, or the orange Etsy badge below, to visit the shop.

I also keep a little journal where I practice my drawing skills by documenting my allotment journey in ink and watercolours.

Winter crops. These are the hero’s that will keep us going through the rest of autumn and into winter. We have a couple of enormous January King cabbages that might not make it to January, loads of Cavalo Nero that I’m having to decapitate to stop it pushing up the netting that covers it, and some lovely leeks.
We might be well into October but we’re still harvesting courgettes, peppers, chillies and still processing ripened tomatoes. 🍅🌶💚
Something completely new has just been listed in my Etsy shop - vintage style seed packets for you to store all those home saved seeds that I’m sure you’ve been busy collecting recently.
That’s the last of the tomatoes now, all piled onto the top of the water butt where they’ll get full sunshine and will hopefully ripen. I know lots of people suffered from blight this year, but I’ve been very lucky. I think a combination of a blight resistant variety (Crimson Crush) and some mycorrhizal fungi from @empathy_rootgrow in the planting holes really helped. I have 18 jars of tomato passata in storage, and another large bowl full to process.
Podding black beans, a little on-going project. It’s one of those simple repetitive tasks that allows the brain to calm down for a while, at least until I get bored, or the kettle has boiled 😂. This is from one 5m row of dwarf beans.
Today is the autumn equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere, which astronomically marks the start of autumn.
