Welcome!

I’m a designer and illustrator who is passionate about gardening and in particular growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment.

The gallery of pictures on the home page show some of the items that are for sale in my Etsy shop. You can click on the link on that page, or the orange Etsy badge below, to visit the shop.

On the blog page, you can read about my allotment. There are posts about what and how I grow, how I combat pests and diseases, and how I store and preserve my harvests, along with as many photos as possible.

I also keep a little journal where I practice my drawing skills by documenting my allotment journey in ink and watercolours.

Victoria plums. So it seems I have a problem with plum moth in my tree. The first couple that I harvested had little holes in them, and inside a little pink maggot - yum, so glad I didn’t get carried away and bite straight into them. I need to get some moth traps set up in the tree, but for now I am harvesting the fruit before it’s fully ripe (and unaffected) and ripening them in a brown paper bag. It seems to be working okay so far. I’m tolerant of some pests on the plot, but I really don’t fancy sharing my plums with maggots! 🙊#plums #homegrownplums #victoriaplums #plummoth

One of those Dahlias I ‘rescued’ from the garden centre for a bargain price as it tried to push out shoots inside the bag. 😅 I can never bear it, I have to buy / free them and put them in soil. It was labelled as American Dawn, although it so far looks nothing like the dusky pink flower on the label. Maybe it will soften up a bit in time. It’s beautiful nonetheless. I have it growing in a large pot outside the back door where she greets me everyday. 🥰 #dahlialove #americandawndahlia

Petunias. Cheap and cheerful bedding plants - this seems like such an old fashioned term now - not everyone’s cup of tea, but they fill a container with a bright splash of colour all summer long, and require little else in return. #petunias

Well, Greek Gigante beans certainly live up to their name, I’m definitely growing more of these next year. These and some of the borlotti beans are going into a Spanish style stew that my other half is cooking up. I shelled the beans, but otherwise I’m staying well out of the kitchen. I’m sure he’ll do them justice. 😋🥰

Fresh borlotti beans. I love these so much. The allotment is really providing so much right now, it makes all that hard work through spring so worth it. I have also harvested some Greek Gigante beans, more fresh chickpeas, more courgettes and another cucumber. There is also a surplus of beetroot, spring onions, endives and spinach. There are potatoes, red onions, shallots and garlic in storage, and it hopefully won’t be long until the tomatoes, chillies, squash and sweetcorn fully ripen. Oh and there are blackberries, apples and plums on the horizon too. 😋 #homegrownheaven #borlottibeans #growyourownfood
