Welcome!

I’m a designer and illustrator who is passionate about gardening and in particular growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment.

The gallery of pictures on the home page show some of the items that are for sale in my Etsy shop. You can click on the link on that page, or the orange Etsy badge below, to visit the shop.

On the blog page, you can read about my allotment. There are posts about what and how I grow, how I combat pests and diseases, and how I store and preserve my harvests, along with as many photos as possible.

I also keep a little journal where I practice my drawing skills by documenting my allotment journey in ink and watercolours.

There hasn’t been much time lately for adding to my garden & nature journal, and I’m not sure there will be this year due to various other projects, but it’s nice to just add something to it when I can. Here are a few flowers spotted over the last month or so. Some in my garden, some growing in the wild, and the paperwhites growing in a pot on the windowsill. Wow it was windy on the plot this morning, ‘blowing a hoolie’ I think they call it up north. ‘Hold on t’yer hat weather’ I call it. It was unseasonably warm though, and felt good to make a start at tidying the plot up a bit. It might look as though I’ve dug this over, but I really just edged the path and lightly forked it to remove any big weeds. It was mulched with manure in the autumn so didn’t need anything more. The rest of the plot is still covered in weeds though! #allotmentuk #allotment #installotment #allotmentgardening

Attempting to get organised this year. Seed stocks have been checked, old seeds thrown or put aside for growing as micro greens. I will test some old seeds on damp kitchen paper as some can last longer than the date shown on the packet. Orders for new seeds are in (I’ve been pretty restrained this year as I already have so many) and some forward planning for sowing is in place to make sure nothing gets missed. I’ve yet to put a plot plan together, but they’re only ever rough guides anyway. PS: it’s the last week of a sale in my Etsy shop if you want to get yourself some planner sheets (these are available as a pdf to download and print at home) or a handmade journal or notebook. My organisation skills go a bit downhill as the gardening year goes on, but it’s good to start right now (i.e start as I mean to - but probably won’t - go on 😂). #organised #seedsowingplan #growingplans #gardeningplans

I decided to sketch the garden while counting birds for the #bigbirdcount2020 for the @rspb_love_nature 🐦 I didn’t count a whole lot of birds, I just hope I wasn’t too distracted by drawing! This is a quick sketch of the view from my garden office, where I regularly get distracted by the local bird life. All the regulars popped by (blackbirds, blue/great tits, dunnock) but no sign of Mr Robin, or the long tail tits and collared doves that very occasionally grace me with a visit. #gardensketch #gardenjournal #biggardenbirdwatch
