Allotment journal for March

Welcome!

I’m a designer and illustrator who is passionate about gardening and in particular growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment.

On the home page, you can read about my allotment. There are posts about what and how I grow, how I combat pests and diseases, and how I store and preserve my harvests, along with as many photos as possible.

The shop page shows some of the items that are for sale in my Etsy shop. You can click on the link on that page, or the orange Etsy badge below, to visit the shop.

I also keep a little journal where I practice my drawing skills by documenting my allotment journey in ink and watercolours.

Podding black beans, a little on-going project. It’s one of those simple repetitive tasks that allows the brain to calm down for a while, at least until I get bored, or the kettle has boiled 😂. This is from one 5m row of dwarf beans.
Today is the autumn equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere, which astronomically marks the start of autumn.
I attempted to put a reel together for the first time, but it just kept crashing the app 🤦‍♀️ so I gave up and have added my videos to my stories - go and check it out (now in my highlights under 2021 harvest) to see some of our harvests today, including these Borlotti beans. #allotmentharvest
The first ripe Sakura sweet peppers from @seaspringseeds are here. Looks like we’re in for a bit of sunny weather next week which will be perfect for ripening more of these along with tomatoes and chillies.
And a few other dishes beside these. Always happy to have a glut of courgettes (aka zucchini). 😁
